Biodiversidade e relações sociais na Amazônia

Resumo
O objetivo deste trabalho é buscar compreender as relações sociais que envolvem a coleta e extração de produtos das florestas amazônicas, e identificar em que medida as populações detentoras do saber etnobotânico se inserem socialmente. Analisa-se, entre outras questões, contratos de empresas extratoras Glaxo Wellcome S.A., Extracta Moléculas Naturais Ltda e Beraca/Brasmazon – Indústria de Oleaginosas e Produtos da Amazônia) e o envolvimento da comunidade local, na coleta e extração de produtos da biodiversidade. Parte-se do pressuposto de que, embora as comunidades rurais, indígenas e outras, lutem pela sua autonomia e auto determinação, de um modo ou de outro, essas comunidades estabelecem fluxo e intercâmbio com toda a sociedade global e sua lógica de acumulação, mesmo que não seja esse o propósito dos referidos grupos, nem tampouco das ONG´s que lhes orientam.

Biodiversity and social relations in the Amazonia

Abstract
The objective of this article is to seek a better understanding of the social relations that are involved in the explotation of Amazon forest products, and identify in what measure etnobotanic knowledge holding population get involved in the social process. This research focused on analyzing company contracts that are engaged in this explotation (Glaxo Wellcome S.A., Extracta Moléculas Naturais Ltda., and Beraca/Brasmazon – Indústria de Oleaginosas e Produtos da Amazônia) and how the local community get involved in the gathering and extraction of biodiversity products. A premiss that guides this study is that rural communities, indigenous or not, that have been fighting for autonomy and self-determination do that and, at the same time, establish flows and exchanges with the entire global community who follows the logic of accumlation. Even though this is not the logic that these communities want to follow nor of the NGOs that try to help them.
