This research, grounded in the theory of participatory democracy, sought to understand the impact of deliberations by the Council for Sustainable Rural Development of Rondônia (CEDRS) on the regional economy and sustainability between 2019 and 2024. Considering the historical context and challenges of Rondônia, such as deforestation and the vulnerability of family farming, this study aimed to address the gap in research on the role of CEDRS in promoting sustainable regional development. Employing a qualitative case study approach, the research utilized document analysis of the council's regulations, minutes, and reports, complemented by non-systematic observation of its activities. The findings indicate that CEDRS contributed to the formulation of public policies that strengthened family farming, diversified the regional economy, and promoted environmental conservation. The council's sectoral chambers, focused on areas such as coffee, fish farming, and cocoa, played a significant role in articulating demands and specific solutions for each sector, fostering local development. Despite the progress observed, challenges persist regarding infrastructure, technical assistance, and mitigation of the impacts of agribusiness, requiring more effective actions from CEDRS to ensure the sustainability of regional development in the long term.
