This article investigates the differences between men and women concerning factors that influence satisfaction with the urban environment. It is based on a research with a quantitative approach, with the application of an online questionnaire. Data were collected from 426 respondents from the South, Southeast and Midwest regions of Brazil, analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlations and discriminant analysis. The results indicated that, although there are similarities, there are clear discriminatory variables that reveal that women are more attentive to subjective aspects of the neighborhood, while men's satisfaction is more influenced by objective characteristics. The existence of good schools and a habitable neighborhood are more related to the female group while, for men, cultural activities and bulky buildings are related to the location and recommendation of the neighborhood. The research validates the need to discuss urban segregation from a gender perspective, so that cities can be rethought considering the complex daily life of women, to dignify unpaid reproductive work, and, maybe, democratize it.
